Daft Punk Scored Soundtrack To Tron: Legacy Out November 23rd?

Daft Punk’s soundtrack to the upcoming movie Tron: Legacy could be out on November the 23rd, if an Amazon.com listing is to be believed.

Amazon listed the album as available to pre-order, stating a shipping date of November 23rd – a believable date, just a few short weeks before the film finally hits theaters in December. However, following the release slip up Amazon has now retracted the information. Disney, the record label for the soundtrack release, added that no release date has been set for the Tron: Legacy album as of yet.

Take the Amazon date with a pinch of salt – it’s not a million miles from the release of the film, so may hold some truth, but until it’s official it means very little. While we wait, why not enjoy this Tron: Legacy trailer, featuring some of French duo’s soundtrack work:

A Look Back At Alive 2007

Alive 2007With all the Daft Punk rumours that have been circulating lately, including refuted tour dates and the buzz surrounding Tron Legacy it’s fairly clear that people are speculating as to what the french duo are up to. But while we wait to find out what Thomas and Guy are up-to, Winston Robbins of Consequence of Sound has looked back at the band’s last release, their 2007 live album Alive.

Be sure to give his look back a read and it may just get you to dust-off the live album for a repeat listen. Robbins describes the album as “an accurate encapsulation of the unequaled ultimate experience that is Daft Punk”, and we couldn’t agree more.

Next Limp Bizkit Album To Have Daft Punk Vibe

Wes Borland & Fred Durst

Wes Borland, Limb Bizkit’s guitarist, recently revealed that the band’s next album is to feature a “Daft Punk vibe”.

The album, dubbed Golf Cobra, is due to be released later this year. Borland added that the album is currently about halfway done. The nu-metal band, whose last album was released in 2005, told Guitar Edge that the upcoming album holds a “fun party kinda vibe” and that it’s “a little like the old stuff but with a Daft Punk vibe thrown in”.

How big of Daft Punk vibe Golf Cobra will have is currently unknown, but all will be revealed when the album hits stores.

Daft Punk To Be Playable Characters In DJ Hero

Last month we brought you word of Justice’s inclusion in the upcoming music rhythm game DJ Hero, in the last few days it has also been revealed that Daft Punk are to feature in the game.

Daft Punk in Dj Hero

The more exciting point regarding this news however is the fact that in addition to having an impressive eleven playable Daft Punk tracks to DJ to in the game, players can also scratch at the digital decks as the french duo themselves, as both Guy and Thomas have been created in digital form for gamers to control.

Big Brother’s Daft Punk Task

The tenth UK series of reality show Big Brother has just come to a close, but a few weeks ago the show had it’s very own Daft Punk related task.

The task saw two housemates, including this years winner Sophie, performing the ‘Daft Bodies’ routine originally seen on YouTube. You can view the original video on YouTube here, or check out the version which aired on Big Brother below:

More DJ Hero Footage

Check out this video, which yet again shows what to expect from Justice’s inclusion in the game, this time with a remix of a Public Enemy track. Rumour has it that Daft Punk will also be featured in the upcoming title.

Justice to feature in DJ Hero

Justice is to feature in the upcoming videogame DJ Hero, the game from Guitar Hero makers Activision will come with it’s very own turntable, and will feature a number of original remixes including those exclusive to the game.

So far it is known that Justice’s ‘Genesis’ will feature alongside a track from Dizzee Rascal. Check out the video below to get a taste for what to expect:

Your thoughts on the remix? Will you be getting DJ Hero?

New Justice Album In 2010

Following last month’s announcement that Justice are now signed to the newly relaunched Elektra Records comes word that a new album is expected from the French duo in early 2010.

Justice

Further details on what to expect from the album are as of now, unknown, but for those you wanting to know more about the switch to Elektra be sure to read the news posted over at Billboard.

Justice remix Lenny Kravitz

Last time we posted about Justice remixing U2′s track ‘Get on your boots’, today we bring you their latest remix of Lenny Kravitz’s track ‘Let love rule’. This remix is a lot faster than the original track, but Kravitz fans fear not the Sax solo is pretty much left in-tact. It’s a bit funky, and we think, a bit better than the U2 effort, your thoughts?

Two remixes in the space of a month makes us think Justice are back in the studio, hopefully working on their own new material, who knows.

New Justice Remix – U2

U2′s new album ‘No Line on the Horizon’ has been out a little while now, and it seems one track from the album has been given the Justice remix treatment.

That track is of course the leading single from the new album, “Get On Your Boots”.

This track has already been remixed by Italian duo ‘Crookers’, but today we want to deliver Justice’s take on it:

Oh it’s also worth pointing out that U2 made the request for Justice to remix this. No word on any official release of this yet.

So, what are your thoughts?

Boyzone want some Chemical Punk

A bit of an odd one this, but Irish boyband Boyzone, seem to have an urging desire to change their image, after it has been revealed that they would love to have either The Chemical Brothers or Daft Punk on board to help produce their next album, despite the bands usually ballad based approach. Somehow we really can’t see it happening, but apparently the boys have already asked Mark Ronson for help.

daftpunk_boyzone
Band frontman, Ronan Keating said:

“There are a couple of producers that I’d love to work with, in particular The Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk. We did put it out there to Mark Ronson but he hasn’t got back to us…… This album isn’t going to be rushed. The problem at the moment is we’re still seen as a nostalgia act because we haven’t come back with a new album and made our mark yet. It’s going to be a very different album and it won’t be what people are expecting. It will be up-tempo and pop but not ballady.”

According to Keating, their next album we be out in time for Christmas, shockingly.

Lady Gaga is not producing Daft Punk single

Although it may have started out as a fun little joke, a number of blogs are reporting that recent pop favorite Lady Gaga is to produce Daft Punk’s comeback single. We just want to clarify this is not the case, and the news was started as just a bit of fun. Although it is funny how many blogs are reporting this as truth. The original fake ‘article’ can be found here, and those keen eyed among you will see it features a number of giveaway errors, such as the misspelling of Bangalter.

ladyfakega

If and when Daft Punk decide to reveal new material, you can be sure we will be reporting it, fact. But for now just remember Lady Gaga is not producing anything for Daft Punk.

Justice and Kanye West mashup

I’m always browsing Hypem for sweet versions of Daft Punk and Justice remixes or mashups, and my latest visit to the site was no dissapointment. Some Daft Punk fans seem to have it in for Kanye his sampling of “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” in “Stronger”, but for those who enjoy Kanye, and of course Justice then be sure to check this mashup out: Party Ben – Let There Be Love (Justice vs. Kanye)

Let There Be Light from Justice, and Love Lockdown from Mr. West, your thoughts?
